Vertebral Subluxation

Analysis of the Spine

The Spine

There are 24 separate bones of the spine, including the sacrum bone, coccyx and pelvis bones. It is important that these bones move freely to allow for daily movement.

Misalignment

The spinal joint can become tender and inflamed and the muscles can spasm. This results in pain, a decrease in joint movement and discomfort.

Vertebral Subluxation

Subluxated Vertebrae

This relates to joint dysfunction, like a poor radio signal where there is an interference of the nerve which travels down the spine to muscles and organs.

Correction

Correction

A chiropractic adjustment is a specific high velocity, low amplitude thrust to a segment of the spine or pelvis which needs to be eased back into position.

Health

Health

Every day we are subject to physical, emotional and chemical stress. Chiropractic is holistic and seeks to assist the body in times of stress. It is known to help with spinal movement, health and wellbeing.

Factors that Contribute to Spinal Misalignment

Physical Stress

Physical stress is defined as stress exerted on the body that is greater than the body’s internal resistance. For example: Performing a powerlift with a heavy deadlift and straining a ligament in the sacroiliac joint which causes the muscles to spasm and a subluxation of the joint. Sitting for long periods of time at a computer and constantly folding your legs which repetitively puts pressure on the lumbar vertebra and sacrum and overtime continues to aggravate that joint in misalignment.

Chemical Stress

Chemical stress relates to poor nutrition and exposure to pollutants that cause an internal imbalance. i.e; Large amounts of sugar, fatty foods, coffee and energy drinks can dehydrate the intervertebral disc in the spine which acts as a shock absorber on movement. Over a period of time this can cause a lack of joint function.

Emotional Stress

Emotional stress is mental stress and is often caused from everyday demands that create tension and anxiety.
